Can Tho (VNA) - The Standing Board of the Can Tho Party Committee and relevant departments on July 8 held a working session with the GenAI Fund to promote digital transformation through artificial intelligence (AI) in the city.
At the meeting, Laura Nguyen, a Partner at GenAI Fund, presented AI’s core capabilities, including data aggregation, search, summarisation, decision-making support, public engagement, and policy development. She also shared ongoing initiatives in Vietnam and proposed collaboration with Can Tho authorities.
The fund plans to assist Can Tho through a comprehensive set of initiatives such as the “Digital Transformation for All” programme to promote digital literacy; AI training for public officials and businesses; startup incubation and co-investment; and financial support for AI research and innovation. Additional support includes providing free working spaces for AI developers and formulating a region-specific AI strategy.
Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Do Thanh Binh affirmed the city’s commitment to advancing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in line with Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo. He underscored the relevance of AI in streamlining state governance, law-making, public service delivery, economic growth, and global trend forecasting.
He assigned the municipal Department of Science and Technology to act as the main liaison with the GenAI Fund, and to swiftly draft an action plan for review by permanent members of the municipal Party Committee. The initiative will run concurrently with the implementation of the two-tier local government model to enhance services for residents and businesses.
Both parties also exchanged ideas and explored specific cooperation opportunities for the time ahead./.
